[…] I am, indeed, capable of spending ten days away from home with an iPad instead of a laptop. […] I can blog from it. (The keyboard dock helps, though.) I can do regular email chores, too. I haven’t been using it for serious writing work, but I managed to get down the outline of a short story that I’ll probably write when I get home. All in all, it’s nicer than any netbook I’ve travelled with.

In 2007, IT dismissed the iPhone as insecure and unsuitable for enterprises. Three years later, the iPhone (and iPad) gives enterprises enough security options to enable them to say “yes” instead of “no.” […] we acknowledge that while most enterprises can use Apple mobile devices securely, some require higher levels of authentication assurance, resistance to attack, manageability, and logging than the iPad or iPhone can provide. For these customers, Research In Motion’s BlackBerry still rules the roost.

Tablets are, like smartphones, another growth market that Microsoft is going to fail to capitalize on, thanks to a failure to understand the company’s past failures, and a stubborn refusal to recognize that not everything is a PC.

Tablets will cannibalize netbooks, outselling netbooks starting in 2012. In 2015, 23% of all PCs sold to consumers in the US will be tablets.

[…] Apple has won the battle for tablet computing already, killing those nascent ‘iPad-killers’ (with the possible exception of the spookily similar products from Samsung, which also makes components) before they even get born.
